Weekly Shonen Jump is getting ready to end their serialization of Gintama — but the manga still has life. You see, Hideaki Sorachi “needs a little while longer” to tie up the series, so it’s moving Jump Giga.
Yep, all of the hype leading up to Gintama‘s end could have been an intentional misdirection. Sorachi explained that he’s been working towards the final chapter, but he needs a bigger page count than what Weekly Shonen Jump offers. Despite the challenge, he told the editors that Gintama would end in August, but it just wasn’t possible when the deadline arrived.
Instead, Gintama is being transferred to Jump Giga, which is Weekly Shonen Jump‘s sister magazine. Sorachi has since apologized to fans who “skimmed over Jump” just to find a non-ending.
So, Gintama still has “a little while longer” to go. No more tears, baby…not yet.
