Sound! Euphonium’s ‘Liz to Aotori’ Film Teases a Failing Friendship

Kyoto Animation released a new trailer for Liz to Aoitori (Liz and the Blue Bird), which is the first of two all-new anime films in the Sound! Euphonium franchise.

Liz to Aoitori follows third-year students Mizore, who plays the oboe, and Nozomi, who plays the flute. The two have formed a close bond since joining the Kitauji High School concert club, but a wedge has come between them. For their final composition, both girls decide to play “Liz and the Blue Bird” for their freeform solo performance. A strong disagreement threatens their happy ending.

Most of the main cast will be reprising their roles, which will be animated by Kyoto Animation’s A Silent Voice team. The movie will also feature 13-year-old figure skater Miyu Honda in her first voice acting role. She’ll play the two characters from the movies in-story fairy tale.
