‘School-Live!’ is Getting a Live-Action Movie for 2018

Live-action adaptations of manga is a hot trend in Japan right now thanks to their box office dominance. So far, Gintama and Blade of the Immortal are among the highest grossest Japanese produced movies this year.

You might want to add School-Live! (Gakkou Gurashi) to that potential list. Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward revealed that the hit series is heading to theaters in 2018.

Writer Norimitsu Kaihou and artist Sadoru Chiba launched the hit survival-horror manga in 2012. School-Live! follows Yuki Takeya, a girl who loves her school and the activities of the School Life Club. The club also includes president Yuuri Wakasa, the athletic Kurumi Ebisuzawa, the mature Miki Naoki, supervising teacher Megumi Sakura, and the club dog Taroumaru. Together, the club participates in various activities and mini-adventures…or that’s how Yuki sees things.

Highlight for spoilers: [In reality, the girls are survivors of a zombie outbreak and they are trying to adapt to a post-apocalyptic life.]

A 12-episode anime adaptation producing by  Lerche aired in the Summer 2015 season. No plans for a second season have been announced so far.
