NHK revealed Kyoto Animation’s newest anime series – Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudou-bu (Tsurune: Kazemai High School’s Archery Club). The anime will debut in 2018.
Tsurune won a Special Judge Award at the 7th Kyoto Animation Awards in 2016. The original story was written by Kotoko Ayano and was illustrated by Chinatsu Morimoto, who has served as a key animator on Sound! Euphonium and A Silent Voice.
Tsurune centers around the Kazemai High School’s boys’ archery club. Minato once participated in archery in middle school, but quit following an incident. In high school, his childhood friends Seiya and Ryouhei try to convince him to participate in archery again, but Minato turns them down. However, a chance meeting at an archery range rekindles Minato’s interest in the sport and his desire to win the prefectural tournament.
