Japanese Company Offers “Marriage Benefits” For 2D Waifus

Otaku have been enjoying various anime-themed marriages activities lately. From anime-themed marriage certificates to a VR marriage experience – it’s been a good time to have fun!

But Japanese tech developer Gatebox is taking things to a whole new level. The company announced that future employees will be able to collect marriage benefits if they register their waifu or husbando with them.

That’s right, applicants that fill out a “wedding registration form” (which doubles as a job application), can receive an extra 5,000 yen ($45) a month if they hired. You’ll even be allowed to take your fictional spouse’s birthday off, which is a benefit most companies don’t provide for real spouses!

Gatebox even states that these benefits are only for fictional spouses, which includes anime, video games, and “costumed” characters. Furthermore, Gatebox says your “marriage” will be honored regardless of your spouse’s gender or species. The only restriction is that one waifu or husbando will be recognized – no harems allowed!

Of course, these “marriage benefits” are a gimmick for new recruits who submit an application by December 7th. Still, who wouldn’t want to brag that they have their waifu’s birthday off?
