For many fans, the Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends manga is the definitive version of the story. Itachi’s adaptation continues way past the anime and light novels, plus original creator Yomi Hirasaka is involved with it.
Oh, and the manga is about to end — sorry. The manga’s 18th volume will serve as the climax, which ships this summer. In Japanese publishing, a story’s climax is synonymous with its conclusion. Most manga also receive epilogue chapters.
Itachi’s manga launched a year after Hirasaka’s original light novel. Both series share a similar core story: Kodaka is treated as an outcast due to his appearance, but bonds with Yozora and her imaginary friend. The pair form The Neighbors Club in order to make friends, but their new members are even more socially awkward than they are.
Are you sad to see Haganai end? The manga is officially licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment.
