Stop the presses, I have something very important to talk about — Bowsette.
So, how did this wonderous creation come to be? You have to thank Nintendo and their lack of foresight.
A few weeks ago, Nintendo announced New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for the Switch. Cool, a remaster of a really fun Mario game!
Of course, the remaster features a new mechanic that allows Toadette to transform into Princess Peach with the use of a crown. This Ditto-like character was dubbed Peachette, because why not.
Fans were not enthused and the gaming community mocked the feature — why not just include Peach instead of this boring cosplay? That is where Haniwa comes in.
This madlad posted a webcomic of Princess Peach turning down Mario and Bowser. The solution? Bowser puts on the Super Crown to become a super sexy, bad girl version of Peach.
Fans instantly fell in love with Bowsette, and she has been taking over social media.

Bowsette’s popularity even crossed the Pacific and has become a hit with Japan’s Pixiv community. Here’s some of the non-rule 34 work:
How does Haniwa feel about the newfound fame?
> follower count is now x100 from before this started
> bunch of artists I follow and even Dragon Maid's made fanart
> got a Know-your-meme entry
> there's a top trending tag on Japan Twitter
What the hell is happening, I'm flattered but also a bit scared now pic.twitter.com/RMC8aQOmf8
