In a move that no one could predict, it has been revealed that 3D Kanojo: Real Girl is getting a second season. The announcement was made shortly after season one’s finale.
3D Kanojo: Real Girl Season 2 will debut in January 2019 on NTV’s AnichU block. The hour-long programming block launched last year to compete against Fuji TV’s Noitamina and MBS’ Animeism, which caters to non-otaku fans.
Mao Nanami’s josei romance manga follows two disenchanted teens trying to navigate their feelings. Hikari has been left jaded due to a series of rejections and withdraws into a world of 2D anime girls. Iroha is tired of boys assuming that she’s an easy lay due to her fashion sense and peppy attitude. One day, the two hit it off and decide to take a chance at a relationship.
Hoods Entertainment (Märchen Mädchen / If Her Flag Breaks) is producing the series with Takashi Naoya (Touken Ranbu -Hanamaru-) directing and Deko Akao (Flying Witch) writing the scripts. A live-action film adaptation is also gearing up to premiere on September 14, 2018.
