A trailer has been released for the Saga of Tanya the Evil (Youjo Senki) sequel movie.
Yutaka Uemura, director of the anime adaptation, told Newtype magazine that there were originally no plans for a Youjo Senki movie, but it was green-lit thanks to fan support. He also relayed that Christopher Nolan’s World War II drama film Dunkirk will influence the movie’s presentation.
While Uemura didn’t go too in-depth, he said the movie will depict the changing relationships between Tanya and her superiors, as well as the development of her troops.
The story will take place after the anime’s story and will be produced by Studio NuT. Aoi Yuuki (Tanya Degurechaff) and Saori Hayami (Visha) will reprise their roles.
Youjo Senki is an isekai war-drama light novel series written by Carlo Zen and illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki. The story features a greedy salaryman reincarnated as a magic-wielding girl named Tanya. This reincarnation is a form of punishment by Being X to teach Tanya humility through the horrors of war – too bad Tanya is as evil as ever and is determined to destroy Being X.
A 12-episode adaptation was produced by NuT, a new anime studio founded by former Madhouse staff.
