Sunrise made the reveal through the official Tiger & Bunny Twitter account and will share more details on the anime’s official website at a later time. Yoshitomo Yonetani, director of the two Tiger & Bunny movies, confirmed that he will not be working on the new project. Instead, he will be rooting for the cast and crew “as just an ordinary citizen.”
Produced by Sunrise, Tiger & Bunny features corporate-sponsored heroes fighting crime on a popular live TV show. Kotetsu “Wild Tiger” Kaburagi is a veteran hero whose popularity has been falling. After a disappointing season on Hero TV, Kotetsu’s sponsors decide to pair him with Barnaby Brooks Jr. Despite their personality clashes, the two attempt to co-operate to prevent their careers from ending.
Tiger & Bunny is immensely popular in Japan, with the cast and series topping a variety of fan polls. It was recently crowned as the #1 anime of all-time in a massive nation-wide survey and was the most requested sequel in a poll conducted by Sunrise.
