The popular “science fantasy” series The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei) is heading towards its climax.
According to a Dengeki Bunko listing, the light novel’s 25th volume will contain a climactic chapter. In light novel jargon, this could either mean the series’ finale or the lead into an epilogue arc. The 25th volume will ship on April 10th.
Writer Tsutomo Satou originally launched The Irregular at Magic High School as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2008. Dengeki Bunko would begin publishing official versions of the story in July 2011, which feature illustrations from Kana Ishida.
The Irregular at Magic High School gaing a large readership for its detailed magic system, which often uses speculative science to explain magical abilities. Tatsuya is placed in the Second Course because his exam scores show him to be magically inept. However, the test fails to score Tatsuya’s physical, technical, and irregular magic techniques.
Madhouse produced a 26 episode anime in 2014 and an original movie in 2017.
