Fan In Peru Gets World Record For Largest Cardcaptor Sakura Collection

This world record consists of 1,086 items of CardCaptor merchandise and began as a hobby of as a schoolgirl over 17 years ago.

The Guinness Book of World Records has awarded Andina News Agency journalist and Otaku Press blogger, Sofia Pichihua, with a certificate recognizing her as the owner of the largest collection of CardCaptor Sakura memorabilia in the world.

This world record consists of 1,086 items of CardCaptor merchandise and began as a hobby of Sofia as a schoolgirl over 17 years ago. The collection includes stuffed animals, action figures, trading cards,  calendars, games, stickers, manga and DVDs

In order to get some of the merchandise to Peru, Pichihua had to travel all the way to Mexico and import items straight from Japan or the United States.

“It is a dream come true. I got the Guinness Record in 2016 as a way to honor the 20th anniversary of the release of the first Cardcaptor Sakura manga. This week I received my certificate,” Pichihua said. “My next dream is to travel to Japan and interview CLAMP”

Among her collection, the monthly shoujo magazine Nakayoshi (なかよし) containing the very first chapter of the Cardcaptor Sakura manga was one of the most complicated to get.

The entire collection is valued at more than Fifteen Thousand US Dollars.
