‘Darling in the Franxx’ Producer Receives Death Threats for Ep. 14

Episode 14 of DARLING in the FRANXX received negative fan reactions from both sides of the Pacific. Sadly, DARLING in the FRANXX animation producer Yuichi Fukushima has been receiving death threats for it.

Fukushima shared sent out two Tweets during the episode’s premiere on April 14. In the first Tweet, he praised the episode’s unique ending sequence.

 

A second Tweet featured Fukushima thanking the episode’s staff for their hard work and hoping that fans will continue to follow the series while asking them to look forward to episode 15.

 

A contingent of Japanese and English-speaking fans quickly bombarded Fukushima with hateful messages. Some fans criticized the episode’s writing and disappointing events, but others posted an image of Zero Two holding a gun with the subtitle “Say, Ahh.'” Others have directed their anger towards episode writer Hiroshi Seko, with fans demanding that Fukushima fire him or that he commits suicide as atonement.

 

The episode is a turning point that re-establishes the one-sided love triangle between Ichigo, Hiro, and Zero Two while reshuffling the rest of the cast’s dynamics. Fans have criticised the episode’s writing and Ichigo’s actions, which led to a #Bitchigo hashtag were fans vent their frustrations towards the character.
