It’s time to get hyped for the 4K scan edition of the classic Cardcaptor Sakura anime! A brand new trailer was released to show comparisons between the 4K and standard versions of the anime.
According to Warner Bros. Japan, the remaster was created using the original 35mm negatives from the initial Japanese broadcast of both Cardcaptor Sakura seasons. They were then digitally scanned in 4K resolution.
The special release will collect both “Clow Card” and “Sakura Card” arcs in an 11-disc release. CLAMP is drawing a special box art for the first press release, which will retail for 45,360 yen ($410) for the Blu-ray box and 23,328 yen ($211) for the DVD box. Keep in mind that only the Blu-ray box will include the 4K version.
The new release is being put together as part of the Cardcaptor Sakura anime’s 30th anniversary. Both box sets will be released on December 22, 2017.
