Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple is an original story written by Yoji Enokido in collaboration with mangaka Kafka Asagiri. The story revolves around power users around the world committing suicide after a mysterious fog appears at each death scene. The Armed Detective Agency heads out to investigate Tatsuhiko Shibusawa, a power user who claims to be a collector.
Writer Asagiri and artist Sango Harukawa launched the Bungo Stray Dogs manga in 2012. The series revolves around literary figures possessing supernatural powers based on their most famous works. Atsushi Nakajima, who can turn into a white tiger, serves as the story’s main protagonist. After running away from an orphanage, he stumbles upon Osamu Dazai floating down a river and foolishly saves. Dazai returns Nakajima’s kindness by introducing him to The Armed Detective Agency, which is tasked with solving crimes that the police struggle with.
Studio Bones produced a 24-episode season that aired in 2016 and the later Dead Apple movie. The anime’s production staff and voice talent returned for the movie, which opened last Saturday.
