Studio Trigger is now the first major animation studio to use Patreon
The popular creators announced the pet project at Anime Expo, with the goals to provide live drawing sessions to subscribers. Their Patreon page mentions that a single staff member is running the project, which seems to be a test to see the platform’s viability.
According to Trigger’s page, they’ve had to ditch merchandising projects due to a lack of funds and low profits. Their Patreon is the first step in engaging the international community so they can explore new projects, attend more events, and to give some more money to their animators.
As of right now, fans can subscribe to $1 and $5 tiers. The $1 tier gives you access to a high resolution .jpg file of the live drawing sessions and the $5 tier gives you access to their .psd, .ai, and clip studio files with untouched layers.
Trigger will explore different tiers and projects as their Patreon grows. They currently have 2,292 Patreons raising $7,225 a month.
