Saint Seiya is one of the anime’s most popular franchises. The high-octane series follows Seiya and various Saints who fight to protect the goddess Athena. It’s a well-loved formula that has kept the franchise around since 1986 — but its new entry is getting a twist.
That’s right, Saint Seiya: Saintia Shou is all about a group of female warriors who fight evil deities. The series takes place after the Sanctuary Arc in the wake of a galactic-wide civil war.
Saint Seiya: Saintia Shou is being produced by Gonzo and will be directed by Masato Tamagawa (Aria the Animation episode director). Screenwriter Ikuko Takahashi (Blue Exorcist) along with character designers Keiichi Ishikawa (Saint Seiya Omega) and Ayana Nishino (Hitorijime My Hero) is joining the staff.
Saint Seiya: Saintia Shou will premiere on December 10.
