Netflix Announces Two More Anime and Dates for Upcoming Shows

The NETFLIX❤ANIME panel at Anime Expo proves that the streaming giant is serious about its plans on being an anime power player. Their increasingly growing slate of original anime titles makes good use of the enormous budget and the studio partnerships they’ve built in the anime industry.

Let’s have a quick look at what Netflix is planning to launch so far based on the AX panel and their press release:

Ultraman

Ultraman is an adaptation of Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi’s manga of the same name. It centers on a man possessing the spirit and DNA of the legendary hero “Ultraman” as he wears a metallic ultra-suit and fights against evil.

Kengan Ashura

Kengan Ashura made it into our list of Manga Too Brutal to be Adapted, but Netflix proved that wrong. Yamashita Kazuo is an underachieving salesman with a failing family life. Yamashita’s boss notifies him that he will be the manager of street fighter Tokita Ohma during a series of Kengan Matches – unarmed fights that are used to settle disputes on behalf of wealthy business owners.

Produced by Fanworks and featuring a character originally created by Sanrio, the creator of Hello Kitty, season two will continue to follow Retsuko and her co-workers as they try and navigate adult life and the corporate struggle.
