Laid-Back Camp (Yuru Camp) is an anime about high school girls visiting various campgrounds near Mt. Fuji during the winter. Apparently, the comfy depiction of camping is inspiring fans to take up the hobby!

The YBS Wide News program aired a feature on Laid-Back Camp and how it’s boosting camping numbers this winter, which tends to be the slowest season of the year. The Kouan campgrounds, which is featured in episode one, has seen the number of campers triple this season!

Most of the campers are visiting for anime pilgrimage reasons, which has prompted Yamanashi Prefecture’s Yamanashi Tourism Organization to host information about Laid-Back Camp and it’s real life locations on their official website. Yamanashi Prefecture is the setting for Laid-Back Camp and they are hoping to bolster tourism numbers thanks to the anime’s popularity.

The YBS Wide News program also to a bookstore manager in Kofu, Yamanashi. They have reported an unexpected boost in Laid-Back Camp manga sales, which has led to four of the five volumes to selling out since the anime’s debut in early January.

Last year, we say Kemono Friends lead anime fans to zoos, and this year it’s Laid-Back Camp leading anime fans to camping. Have you thought about braving the cold to go on a camping trip?
