Hiromu Arakawa’s Silver Spoon (Gin no Saji) manga is returning from hiatus on May 23. The popular slice-of-life manga has been on hiatus since last July.
Arakawa, who is internationally known for creating Fullmetal Alchemist, has been teasing that Silver Spoon‘s climax is imminent since June 2015. Last April, Arakawa shared her story plans leading up to the ending. She always planned on showing Yuugo Hachiken’s first year at Ooezo Agricultural High School in great detail and condensing his final two years. Afterward, there will be an epilogue showing Hachiken and his classmates’ lives after graduation. Arakawa has been drawing the epilogue storyboards since April 2017.
Arakawa has launched Silver Spoon in April 2011 and 14 volumes have been published so far. Tired of trying to meet the impossible expectations set upon him, Yuugo Hachiken enrolls at Ooezo Agricultural High School, which is far from the city life he has always known. With no plans for the future, Yuugo uses his high school years learning about agricultural life and how it affects the lives of his new friends.
A-1 Pictures produced a two-season adaptation, totaling at 22 episodes, that ran in the summer 2013 and winter 2014 seasons. A live-action movie also debuted in 2014.
