Haruhi Suzumiya’s “Endless Eight Arc” is Getting an 88-Hour Marathon

On August 28, you’ll get to re-experience the greatest anime arcs of all-time: The Endless Eight!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

That’s right, Niconico Live is hosting an 88-hour live stream to “celebrate” Haruhi Suzumiya’s infamous arc. They are dubbing it the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu/Endless Eight 88-Jikan Nama Housou ~Oyoso 1,9077 Nagato Yuki Taiken~.

In the arc, poor ol’ Yuki Nagato is stuck in a time-loop and relives the events of August 17-31 about 15,532 times. Kyon eventually snaps out of his apathy and becomes aware of the situation, which is the key to breaking the SOS Brigade (and anime fans) free.

Despite only being a chapter long in the light novel, KyoAni animated eight “different” Endless Eight episodes and aired them over eight weeks. Each episode features minor changes, so you can play “Spot the Difference” while you wait for new story content.

The live stream will have the first seven episodes on repeat and will culminate with the arc’s finale on August 31, just like how the story ends.

Are you ready to embrace your inner masochist and go for the 88-hour special?
