Here it is, Warner Bros. has finally dropped the first trailer for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.
That’s right, the CGI-hybrid movie of a talking Pikachu (starring Ryan Renolds) doesn’t look terrible! The Pokémon designs are between cartoony and photo-realism, which seems to blend well with the live-action setting. Of course, Mr. Mime looks like he will eat your dreams.
The story centers around a teen (played by Justice Smith) who teams up with Detective Pikachu in order to find his father. Ken Watanabe and Kathryn Newton round-out the supporting cast as a detective and journalist, respectively.
The film, which is based on a game of the same name, will premiere on May 10, 2019.
