Bowsette is Getting Her Own Convention in Japan

Just when you thought the Bowsette trend couldn’t get any bigger, something new crops up!

First, a single webcomic from Haniwa spawned an entire movement dedicated to Bowesette, which combines Princess Peach’s regal looks with Bowser’s naughty attitude.

Then, officially published mangaka jumped on board and began drawing the character.

You can find nearly 1,000 of Bowsette drawings that have cropped up over the course of a week. Such a demand for this new fan character has led to an actual convention!

A fan named すみひい has notified the world that they are renting a space at the Kawasaki Municipal Industrial Promotional Hall to host “Project Crown.” The Bowsette-centric convention will feature fan art, doujin manga (the family-friendly and naughty kind), and a crossplay show. Yep, guys are encouraged to dress as their newfound waifu!

The one-day event is set for October 27 — provided the anti-fun police at Nintendo doesn’t attempt to shut it down. They kind of have a reputation for sending cease-and-desist orders against fan projects.

Speaking of Nintendo, the J-Cast media outlet asked them about their view of the Bowsette trend. They said, “We decline to comment.”

Who here is ready to book a flight to Kawasaki?
