Kyoto Animation released a new trailer for Violet Evergarden and it introduces some new characters. Violet Evergarden is an adaptation of Kana Akatsuki’s award winning novel. It’s currently the only work to win the grand prize at the Kyoto Animation Awards.
The anime, which has been picked up by Netflix, takes place in a world where automatons were designed to help disabled people, but are instead used as war machines. Violet Evergarden was once a combat automaton, but she’s taken a job at a postal company following a four-year war. While on the battlefield, Violet was a told a word she couldn’t understand. She hopes that helping people and writing letters for them will help her discover its meaning.

Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan) as Violet Evergarden.
Takehito Koyasu (Dio in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) as Claudia Hodgins.
Daisuke Namikawa (Hisoka in Hunter x Hunter) as Gilbert Bougainvillea.
Aya Endo (Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier) as Cattleya Baudelaire.
Kouki Uchiyama (Seiya Kanie in Amagi Brilliant Park) as Benedict Blue.
Violet Evergarden will air in Japan on TV and Netflix in January, with Netflix streaming the series globally in the Spring 2018 season.
