The Kill la Kill Writer is Helping Create a Batman Ninja Anime

Batman is getting a re-imagining from the people behind Kill la KillJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Afro Samurai.

The new project, which was approved by Warner Bros., is titled Batman Ninja. The anime movie is being directed by Jumpei Mizusaki (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), written by Kazuki Nakashima (Kill la Kill), and designed by Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai).

Warner Bros. is going to officially unveil the project at New York Comic Con, but a listing on the event’s scheduling was spotted by PolygonBatman Ninja being described as:

“Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment team for an eye-popping addition to the Batman animated legacy with Batman Ninja, a spectacular, all-new anime film coming in 2018. Be among the first to witness the premiere of colorful footage from this imaginative take on Batman and many of his connected characters. Panelists will include director Jumpei Mizusaki, character designer Takashi Okazaki, screenwriter Kazuki Nakashima, English-language screenwriters Leo Chu & Eric Garcia and some potential special guests.

Warner Bros. has contracted Japanese studios in the past to help produce the animation for their previous “DC Universe Animated Original Movies,” but this is the first time that a Japanese team is leading the full production over an entire movie.

The Batman Ninja panel will kick off on October 5th.
