Sony Wants to Create More Fate/Grand Order Anime

Yesterday, Sony President and CEO Kazuo Hirai indicated that more anime based on Fate/Grand Order is a strong possibility due to the popularity of the mobile game.

Fate/Grand Order

Fate/Grand Order has been downloaded 9 million times in Japan and is one of the most popular games in the country. The game has also been downloaded 6 million times in China and is preparing for an American launch this summer.

A TV anime special titled Fate/Grand Order: First Order aired on January 1, 2017. President Hirai didn’t indicate if future anime projects would be related to First Order or if it will be a new adaptation.

Fate/Grand Order centers around the Chaldea Security Organization, which has guaranteed humanities existence for the next century. But, they discover a future where humanity goes extinct in 2016, which is traced back to the events of Fate/stay Night. Chaldea decides to use time travel to convert agents into spirit particles so they can destroy space-time anomalies to prevent mankind’s destruction.

2017 is already packed with Fate anime: Fate/Apocrypha debuts this July, the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya movie debuts this August, and the first Heaven’s Feel movie debuts this October.

There was no indication of a release window or what form a future Fate/Grand Order will take shape as.
