Kodansha has just announced that the release of the second volume of Kentaro Yasui's light novel Ark IX will be accompanied by a limited edition Blu-ray original animation adaptation. The bundle pack will also include bonus footage and an interview with Kentaro Yasui, who is also the author of the Ragnarok series which went on to inspire the Swords of the Dark One manga collection.
The OVA will be released July 2, and will be available for pre-order through April 25. Prices for the entire limited edition bundle fall at about $38 for American shoppers, and 3,500 yen in Japan.
The story of Ark IX follows detective Shido Enishi as he investigates a case which leads to a huge revelation about the troubled world he lives in. Lands have been divided in half by a great wall to prevent an epidemic called “Dark Mist,” and refugees are protected in specialized artifical cities. But what if the very things protecting them are their greatest threats?
Nano, who performed the theme to 2012's BTOOOM!, is currently on board to record the opening track to the Ark IX OVA.
