For everyone looking forward to celebrating Halloween Wednesday October 31, or who are already ringing in the cosplay-perfect holiday a few days early, Seoul-based Korean hip-hop/alternative band Epik High has a very special trick-and-treat for Asian music fans: the spook-themed music video for their recent release "Don't Hate Me!"
And honestly, what is there to hate about this track or video? As a former supermarket employee, I particularly enjoy singer Tablo's rough treatment of his costumer's groceries and the costumed free-for-all through the store with mini Lady Gagas and SAW villains. Mithra Jin's rapping is spot on as always, and the dancing invites the whole store, including the child guests stars, to join in on the fun. The ending itself is a bit of a trick from Epik High, and you're left wondering if the whole show was a brilliant daydream from Tablo, or if the children pulled a spooky fast one on the boys at work. Whatever the case is, I'd like to warn Tablo that his manager is going to want to have a word with him after triple scanning all of those items. That is a number one grocery store no-no, Tablo!
If you don't hate and want to show some love to Epik High, their albums and singles are available on iTunes. "Don't Hate Me" is a single off of their new album "99" released October 19. Other tracks worth a listen are "UP" and "It's Cold".
