Ohayou, everyone!

Obviously, things have been a little slow lately. Why? That's because there's a lot of new things on the horizon, and I can't wait to bring our new content to the table. Then again, who am I? When it comes to GoBoiano, I'm the Executive Editor. I'm also more than just a face behind the news team. As a self-proclaimed nerd, anime has played a vital role in my life – albeit, there was a lapse for a few years after I was banned from watching Sailor Moon in third grade. (Apparently, the transformation scene was too inappropriate for a child my age.) Otaku culture, in general, has had a strong influence on my interests. In fact, I recall skipping homework constantly to play Final Fantasy.  These interests are why I'm here, building a team to bring you, the reader, the latest in otaku culture.

Now, let's talk about a few of our upcoming changes:

This Week in Simulcast: Fall 2012

Rather than continue with our usual episodic reviews of various anime, we've decided to condense our reviews of currently airing shows to a single, much smaller article, which will be published every Saturday for our readers. I know this might come as a disappointment to some of you, especially those who looked forward to reading our opinions on a weekly basis, but don't fret. The amount of time we spent reviewing episodes will now be set aside to bring more exciting content to the front page.

Monthly Editorials and Recommendations from Yours Truly

In Japan, there's some sort of celebration or holiday every month, each of those centering on different aspects of not only their culture, but also foreign traditions that more and more of the Japanese population are adopting, such as Christmas. Expect a few other holidays, like Valentine's Day and Halloween (though not this year) to make their appearances as well.

Because we aren't all from Japan and may not understand Japanese holidays, I will also be including a brief introduction to the holiday(s). For instance, November plays host to three holidays, not all of which are national, but are celebrated by the general populace: Bunka no Hi, Shichigosan, and Kinro Kansha no Hi.

Want to know what these holidays are? Stay tuned!

Insights

Another idea I've been toying with, and plan to introduce soon, is a new form of reviews, which I prefer to call Insights. These "reviews" are tailored to introduce a group of people to a new type of anime, which they might find a little difficult to comprehend. Rather than remark on the content of the show and how its plot progresses, Insights aim to explain the reasoning behind the show.

For instance, and from experience, BTOOOM! I personally love this anime, but I've also found a lot of people hate it. Some for content, others simply because they don't understand the show. An Insight of BTOOOM! (which I plan to write in the near future) would explain the mechanics of the show, its similarities to other popular titles that aren't necessarily the same genre, and the key plot points in a way that someone whose never been introduced to the survival scenerio, or the anime itself, can easily understand.

A Word from the Editor

As interaction between writers, myself, and our community increases, I would like to open up the opportunity for you, our readers, to contact me personally for my opinions and thoughts regarding certain things that may be going on in otaku culture. Maybe you want to know why we're not covering something, or maybe why we ceased covering a certain anime or event, either way I probably have the answer you want.

As you can see, this week is my first editorial and, unfortunately, is bare of letters. Want to help me change that? Send me an e-mail: mrsblunder@goboiano.com.

For the time-being, I intend for this article to be published bi-weekly. However, if needs determine otherwise, it will become a weekly column. Not only will I answer e-mails from you all, but I will also introduce upcoming content from our writers.
