The Puella Magi Madoka Magica films enjoyed a strong debut weekend in the limited number of US theaters in which they were shown.
The films clenched the number 2 spot in the rankings of per-screen average, with each of its five screens earning an average of $12,468 USD. The only film to top it in that department this past weekend was The Sessions," with a $28,367 USD average.
Overall, the films earned $62,340 from all five of its theaters. Not too shabby for a limited anime release! Hopefully this will spur publishing companies and animation studios into giving future anime films a broader, and lengthier theater run abroad.
