‘Pop Team Epic’ Gets All-New Anime with Japan Racing Association

Fans of absurd humor can rejoice because Pop Team Epic is getting a new anime project.

The series’ official Twitter account revealed that an original net anime is in production. It’s a collaboration with the Japan Racing Association (JRA), which will no doubt be filled with horse jokes. Production details will be shared at a later time.

Pop Team Epic is a popular surreal four-panel manga created by Bkub Okawa. It features the short Popuko and the tall Pipimi doing wacky things with little regard for continuity or sense.

The series received a 12-episode anime adaptation this past winter. King Records produced the series with Kamikaze Douga serving as the animation studio. However, the anime featured segments that were created by indie artists, like UchuPeople and AC-bu.
