Bushiroad, producers of Tantei Opera Milky Holmes and BanG Dream!, revealed their newest project. Titled Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight, the project is going to blend anime with a stage play.
The story follows “Starlight,” a musical theater troupe that sends invitations to nine girls, inviting them to “realize their dreams by becoming a star on stage.” They participate in a battle royale of sorts to prove who is the best idol, dancer, and stage performer.
Tomohiro Furukawa (opening director for Yurukuma Arashi) is directing the anime, Tatsuto Higuchi (Cross Ange series composer) is handling the scripts, and Kinema Citrus (Barakamon) is producing the animation.
The anime’s voice cast will participate in the stage play, which will have performances between September 22 to 24. Cast members include:
Momoyo Koyama (Sailor Mercury in the Sailor Moon stage play) as Karen Ajyou
Suzuko Mimori (Umi Sonoda in Love Live!) as Hikari Kagura
Maho Tomita (Akane Shinozaki in Everyday Tales of a Cat God) as Maya Tendou
Hinata Sato (Ria Kazuno in Love Live! Sunshine!!) as Junna Hoshimi
Haruki Iwata (first major role) as Mahiru Tsuyuzaki
Moeka Koizumi (first major role) as Nana Daiba
Aina Aiba (Rockhopper Penguin in Kemono Friends) as Claudine Saijyou
Teru Ikuta (first major role) as Futaba Isuruzaki
Ayasa Ito (Arisa Ichigaya in BanG! Dream) as Kaoruko Hanayagi
While the stage play is set to premiere this September, the anime does not have a premiere date. Are you going to check out the music based series?
