Netflix Now Has the Streaming Rights to “Violet Evergarden”

Netflix announced that they have the global streaming rights to Violet Evergarden. Kyoto Animation is working on the series, which is an adaptation of Kana Akatsuki’s light novel of the same name.

Violet Evergarden is sci-fi series that takes place in a world where automatons were designed to help disabled people, but are instead used as war machines. Violet Evergarden was once a combat automaton, but she’s taken a job at a postal company following a four-year war. While on the battlefield, Violet was a told a word she couldn’t understand. She hopes that helping people and writing letters for them will help her discover its meaning.

Taichi Ishidate, who directed the two beautiful trailers for the light novel, will direct the anime series. Yui Ishikawa, the voice of Mikasa Ackerman, will voice Violet Evergarden.

Violet Evergarden will air in Japan during the Winter 2018 season and Netflix will stream the series outside of Japan during the Spring 2018 season.
