Fans of despair can rejoice because Made in Abyss is getting a sequel. The announcement was made at the “Deep in Abyss Katari” fan event. Beside a promo video, no production details or release window were shared.

Made in Abyss

Akihito Tukushi’s hit web manga series centers around Riko, an orphan who dreams of becoming a great Cave Raider like her mother and to solve the mystery of the Abyss. The Abyss is an unexplored cave system that is home to strange creatures and artifacts. Generations of explorers have been drawn to the Abyss, but the deadly creatures and “the curse of the Abyss” leads to a high mortality rate. Despite knowing the risks, Riko is determined to descend to the bottom of the Abyss.

A 12-episode adaptation produced by Kinema Citrus ran in the Summer 2017 season. Amazon Prime’s Anime Strike streamed the series and Sentai Filmworks will release it on home video.
