Log Horizon is getting a brand new book for the first time since 2015! Author Mamare Touno and illustrator Kazuhiro Hara are reuniting to work on Log Horizon volume 11, which will be published by Kadokawa’s Enterbrain imprint on March 20, 2018.
Kadokawa published volume 10 in September 2015, but put future physical releases on hold after Touno was charged with tax evasion in April 2015. Touno was found guilty in 2016 and received a 10-month prison sentence. However, his sentence is suspended for three years and he can avoid prison time if he maintains good behavior up through 2019.
Despite his high profile legal issue, Touno has published Log Horizon volumes 11 through 13 in their original web format. Touno is currently working on volume 14 and he has published that volume’s first chapter last August. Kadokawa has decided to give the volumes a physical release, which currently needs illustrations from Hara.
The popular Log Horizon series follows a group of Japanese gamers that are trapped in the fantasy online game Elder Tale after the release of a new expansion pack. Shiroe teams up with Naotsugu and Akatsuki to face their new world, which is rife with political turmoil and other gamers trying to a society within Elder Tale.
A two-season anime adaptation aired on NHK E, which ironically is a government-funded TV channel. Satelight produced season one and Studio Deen produced season two.
