The first trailer for the live-action film adaptation of Ajin: Demi-Human has been released, which gives us a taste of the action scenes.
Katsuhiro Motohira (Psycho-Pass chief director) is directing Ajin, which marks his first leap from anime to live-action. The movie is also changing protagonist Kei’s age. Instead of being a high school student, Kei is now a medical intern in his mid-twenties.
Ajin: Demi-Human is a hit manga that was created by Gamon Sakurai. The story centers around immortal beings called “Ajin.” These beings are able to manifest “Ghosts” that can act as an extension of an Ajin’s body. There is only a handful of Ajin in existence, which makes them a commodity for governments.
Kei was a seemingly normal boy, but a truck accident reveals to the world that he is an Ajin. Hunted down by the Japanese government, Kei meets a disturbingly Ajin named Sato, who wants to do little more than exact revenge on humans and cause carnage.
Ajin: Demi-Human has been adapted into a two-season anime and three anime movies by Polygon Pictures.
The live-action movie will open in Japanese theaters on September 30, 2017. Are you looking forward to it?
