2016 Anime That Bombed Harder Than Mariah Carey's NYE Show

Mariah Carey's total bomb of a performance on New Year's Eve was a fitting end to 2016. Carey's pre-recorded vocals were screwed, and she was stuck on stage trying to lip synch to nothing. Her on-stage melt down as the ball dropped seemed like a fitting end to 2016.

In fact, I have to thank Carey's performance for reminding of equally as disastrous anime from the past year. Some of you may have liked these series, and that's okay (I still love you). But sometimes a bomb is a bomb and people lost money making the show.

1. Berserk

Average sales: Did not sell enough to chart.

2. Big Order

A half-assed mess of a series, which is a perfect representation of Mariah Carey's performance.

Big Order

Average sales: 330 copies

3. Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars

It was so bad, that money hungry businessmen delayed the loli mecha series. To this day, people wonder if it was worth it.

Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars

Average sales: 350 copies

4. Long Riders!

Studio ACTA is a mess; they can't get anything done on time (like me), but they somehow still find work (again, like me).

Long Riders

Average sales: 1,223 copies

Average sales: 405 copies

6. Okusama ga Seitokaichou!+!

Raw and uncensored ecchi just ain't cutting it anymore.

My Wife is the Student Council President

Average sales: 1,003 copies

7. Myriad Colors Phantom World

Congratulations, you are now Kyoto Animation's worst selling anime of all time! Them waifus tho.

Myriad Colors Phantom World

Average sales: 2,191 copies

8. Alderamin on the Sky

This is why we don't get good war dramas outside of Gundam. Maybe Madhouse's art style killed it from day one?

Average sales: 282 copies

9. Keijo!!!!!!!!

A booty bomb into the pool. A sales cat-ass-trophy due to a big marketing push, which really hurts the chances of a second season.

Average sales: 860 copies

10. Taboo-Tattoo

Started out with so much pretty promise, then progressively became a mess. Kind of like Mariah Carey's performance.

Average sales: 368 copies

11. Hundred

Because Battle Harem #100 would be too literal of a title.

Average sales: 1,360 copies sold

12. Divine Gate

Divine Gate is a good argument for why mobile games should not get an anime.

Divine Gate

Average sales: 1,322 copies sold

13. Terra Formars: Revenge

Let's take one of the goriest manga of modern time and turn it into a PG-rated shounen with awkward comedy. Fans will surely buy it!

Terra Formars: Revenge

Average sales: 407 copies

14. Mayoiga

What is Mayoiga? A total failure at creating suspense or a work of genius that defies expectations? We'll never know, because it was EXECUTED come sales time. We'll always remember you Lovepon.

Average sales: Did not sell enough to chart

15. Sakamoto desu ga?

Sakamoto was the hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now.

Sakamoto desu ga?

Average sales: 407 copies

RIP in peace bombs of 2016. Some of you were good and some were bad, but at least you all will live in infamy for being financial failures (though pirates love you <3)
