KyoAni to Debut Violet Evergarden During the Winter Season

Remember Violet Evergarden? It’s a light novel that is published by Kyoto Animation and the internet fell in love with their stunning animated promo for the books.

The first trailer was released on May 27, 2016.

An anime adaptation was announced way back on May 27, 2016. Kyoto Animation has been silent on the project…until now. Well, kind of. The studio held their third annual fan event to detail some of their future projects. Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions stole the show with the unveiling of a new movie, but studio quietly revealed the release windows for their other projects.

Not only is Violet Evergarden slated for a Winter release, but lyricist management company MiracleBus is listing Evan Call (Symphogear G) as the music producer and Takahiro Ikeda as the music director.

According to the above tweet, Taichi Ishidate (Beyond the Boundary director) is directing the TV anime. He also directed the two trailers for the light novel, which included Joji Unoguchi (Free! art director) as the lead 3D artist.

Violet Evergarden is notable for being the only title to win the grand prize at Kyoto Animation Award, which is a program that is notorious for its strict judges. The light novels are a collection of short stories told from the perspective of an Auto Memory Doll named Violet Evergarden. She works at CH Mail Service with a man named Hodgins, who serves as Violet’s guardian after a soldier named Gilbert hands Violet over to him.

The second trailer was released on March 15, 2017.

It’s only a tentative release window, but are looking forward to Violet Evergarden premiering in the Winter 2018 season?
