Kyoto Animation began streaming a new commercial promoting the Violet Evergarden light novel, which is written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. An anime adaptation was announced on May 27, 2016, but keep in mind that this new trailer is not related to the anime.
Violet Evergarden is a fantasy-drama series that is a collection of short stories. Each story is told from the perspective on an “Auto Memory Doll” named Violet Evergarden. The dolls were created by Professor Orlando to help out his wife, but they eventually saw mass production. Violet Evergarden works at CH Mail Service and was found by a soldier named Gilbert, who handed her over to Hodgins to act as her guardian.

Kyoto Animation has not announced the staff, cast, or premiere window for the anime adaptation. However, the staff of the first PV included Taichi Ishidate (Beyond the Boundary director) as the director, Akiko Takase (Violet Evergarden illustrator) as the character designer, and Joji Unoguchi (Free! art director) as the 3D artist.
Still, the animation in the trailer is highly detailed and fluid. What do you think of Kyoto Animation’s work on the two trailers?
