The life of an idol fan can be an expensive one. Depending on your dedication, there are no shortages of CDs, concerts, meet-and-greet events, and merchandise that will quickly drain your bank account. But one young fan decided to navigate darker waters to fuel his hobby.
Toyko police reportedly arrested a 17-year-old high schooler for shoplifting 120 boxes of razor blade refills! His stash was worth 420,000 yen ($3,800) assuming each box retails for 3,500 yen ($31.43).
The young man told the police he wasn’t doing anything nefarious with the blades other than reselling them so he could pay for idol goods. According to the police report, a classmate bought 10 boxes of razor blade refills from him for 10,000 yen ($89.79). Not only did the teen make some money to buy some merch, the classmate bought the razors at a discount, averaging 1,000 yen ($8.99) per box!
The teen decided that he could make some nice money on the side to support his idol hobby by selling stolen boxes of razor blade refills. However, the police decided to charge him with shoplifting due to the massive amount of razors that were stolen.
