Did you ever think the idol genre needs a little more…death? Square Enix has your back with their newest mobile game.
Project Tokyo Dolls is a mobile “tap RPG” app that combines the words of cute idols and death. The story takes place in Tokyo, which is under threat by a strange being called Pygmalion. This creature consumes people in the shadows of Tokyo and it’s up to a group of female fighters to take it down.
The girls appear as idols in the real world, but are actually reborn “dolls” who possess paranormal powers. Naturally, they are the only ones who can fight Pygmalion beyond the realm of death and their fates are tied to an artifact called “Gears.” Such is the way of the idol industry.
Wit Studio, known for Attack on Titan and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, are animating three shorts for the game. “Episode 0” teases the dark world of Project Tokyo Dolls, while the next two will expand on the girl introduced in Episode 0 and reveal the game’s story.
Project Tokyo Dolls will be released on Android and iOS devices.
