Gambling Manga ‘Kakegurui’ is Getting a Live-Action TV Show

Hit gambling manga Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler is getting a live-action TV drama! The series is set to debut on January 14th.

Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler

Minami Hamabe will star as Yumeko Jabami. The 17-year-old actress is Japan’s go-to choice for live-action adaptations. So far, she has been cast in:

  • Ajin: Demi-Human as Eriko Nagai
  • Saki as Saki Miyanaga
  • Yo-kai Watch: Soratobu Kujira to Double no Sekai no Daibouken da Nyan! as Kanami Minami
  • Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day – Menma

Hamabe looks to be going against type since she typically plays cute and innocent characters.

Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler

Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler is a manga created by writer Homura Kawamoto and artist Toru Naomura. It takes place in a private academy that only accepts wealthy students. Gambling runs supreme at the academy, and students are expected to hone their gambling skills. Losers often face humiliating punishments. However, Jabami vows to shake things up with her flamboyant style of gambling.

Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler was adapted into a 12-episode anime by MAPPA during the Summer 2017 season. The anime is licensed by Netflix.
