Back in the day, we used to watch anime, decide who are the best girls, and then we’d have to wait for quite some time for the merchandise to hit stores. We then got anime which had characters from the get-go that would make for great figures and toys. Kotobukiya probably thought that was cute and asked someone to hold their beer because they just added another layer of meta to the process.
We’re soon going to have merchandise inspired by an anime that’s adapted from the toys that spawned from robot kits.
“Frame Arms” started as a series of plastic robot kits designed by Yanase Takayuki, the mechanical designer of shows like Comet Lucifer and Rakuen Tsuihou. That line of toys gave way to “Frame Arms Girl“, which are the robots of the previous series redesigned as cute girls by Girls und Panzer‘s very own Shimada Humikane.
Frame Arms Girl is now getting its own anime series – and it’s not about actual powered-up girls fighting a la Kancolle. It’s all about the toys themselves and a girl who builds them.
The voice cast for this Spring anime has been revealed on their official website:

The show will follow the story of Ao, an ordinary high schooler, who one day receives Gourai in the mail, a curious Frame Arms Girl who wants to collect battle data and study human emotions. The anime is made by Zexcs and Studio A-CAT and will begin airing April 4, 2017.
