Last week, Hiro Mashima revealed that Fairy Tail will be getting two new manga series and that one of them will be a sequel. However, he squashed some dreams as he said that wasn’t writing or drawing them and will be working on a totally new story.

Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine did reveal that Mashima will serve as the sequel’s supervisor, which is similar to Masashi Kishimoto’s role in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. The new artists for the Fairy Tail projects haven’t been named yet, but Kodansha teased that the sequel will be a “future story” that’s connected to the original’s final chapter.
Kondasha also revealed that the cast and crew from Fairy Tail‘s second anime season will return for the finale. A-1 Pictures and Bridge will produce the animation and all former voice actors will reprise their roles. The anime will air this fall.
