For starters, he revealed that the anime’s final season will premiere this fall. The season was first announced last July, but most of the details are closely guarded. A-1 Pictures has produced everything related to Fairy Tail but had assistance from Satelight for the first 175 episodes and assistance from Bridge for everything else.
Mashima also shared that Fairy Tail will have two spin-off manga series and that one of them will serve as a sequel. He didn’t say if he’ll be drawing either spin-offs or will only be supervising.
The biggest news is that Mashima’s all-new manga series will begin serialization on June 27. He’s keeping story details and title a secret, but he has teased that it will be a fantasy series and that jokes “will be quite a challenge.” Mashima’s new series won’t be related to Fairy Tail, but Plue will make an appearance. Plue has appeared in Mashima’s Rave Master and Fairy Tail.
So far, Mashima’s Rave Master and Fairy Tail have received anime adaptations. Time will tell if his latest work will continue the trend.
