Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s Anime Previews Ufotable’s Designs

Animplex released a new teaser for Ufotable’s adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba launched in February 2016 and has ranked well in Japanese reader polls, but is relatively underground by Weekly Shonen Jump standards. The manga is darker and gritter compared to newer Jump titles. It’s darker themes and art style has won praise, which has drawn comparison’s to older shounen manga from the ’80s to ’90s.

The series follows Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko. After returning home from selling coal, Tanjiro finds his family has been slaughtered, and that his lone surviving sister has been turned into a demon. Demon hunter Tomioka arrives to kill Nezuko, he is surprised to see the two protecting. Nezuko still having human emotion is odd, which leads Tanjiro one a quest to restore Nezuko’s humanity.
