7 Places You Wish You Could Visit for a Real Life Beach Episode

Harem shows are my guilty pleasure and there’s no episode as sinfully delicious as the beach episode. Sun, waves, drinks, and swimsuits – seriously what more could you ask for in life?

Gurren Lagann

Ok, other than more spin-off episodes of Gurren Lagann.

Most beach episodes happen at the nearest beach to the protagonists but why settle? The real world has beaches that boast the best of food, surf, and unique experiences.

These are the ultimate places to go for your own real life beach episode!

Treasure Beach, Jamaica

Treasure Beach is six miles of beach that are untouched from Jamaica’s main tourist areas. It offers a quiet place to soak in the relaxed Jamaican fishing community. This is the top spot for slice-of-life fans who always wanted some of that country-side feel.

Anse la Raye, St. Lucia

The sleepy fishing village offers a unique blend of English and French architecture due to its colonial history. You can pretend that you’ve stepped into a Ghibli-esque world where Howl’s Moving Castle and Porco Rosso are real. Anse la Raye is home to a beautiful waterfall and coves that put in touch with various fish and rays.

Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

Santa Teresa is the perfect spot for surfers or couples who want to live in nature. The serene water and gleaming sand are the backdrops for activities like snorkeling or kite surfing. There’s plenty of choices for lodging from upscale hotels, cheap Airbnb homes, or the many yoga retreats or low-ecosystem impact lodges.

Gold Coast, Barbados

The Caribbean boasts this celebrity-favorite beach that is perfect for people who like the finer things in life. Although if you’re cheap, there are still hotels that offer rooms starting at $112 a night (the price of some anime convention hotels!!) and you’re a short walk or bus ride to the gorgeous Barbados beach. If there’s ever a time to go, it’s definitely for the legendary Crop Over Festival that ends with Carnival Parade with flashy bikini-style costumes. As you can see in the last photo, even Rihanna comes back for the party.

Gold Coast, Barbados

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

A coastal resort town that is known for pretty reefs and palm-line beaches. Playa del Carmen is also home to both touristy and authentic shops, restaurants, and dance clubs for people looking to explore non-beach activities. It’s a big party destination so perfect for a beach episode that ends with a club night.

Matira Beach, French Polynesian Islands

Experience beautiful sunsets as you chill in your private bungalow watching anime beach episodes because you’re meta like that. Matira Beach is considered one of the best beaches in the world and has water that some divers describe as silky soft on your skin. Bring some top tier music by Yoko Kanno and Joe Hisaishi then you’re sure to have a transcendent experience.

Paradise Beach, Fiji

Go to Paradise Beach if you want to float in the water and experience the Namena Marine Reserve with world class snorkeling. Seriously, this reserve is on the bucket list for many ocean lovers and Fiji is known for their crystal clear waters. For ocean life fans who love the underwater level in games, this is the perfect place to have an unforgettable experience.

These beach locations are dream destinations for the ultimate beach episode. Some of these places are cheap enough to skip a few anime conventions to afford (and watch flight deals like a hawk) while others would take some serious dedication. But at least these places are 3D unlike some of the best anime beaches.
